Dear teachers,
Would you please check the following sentences:
(a) This makes the storage medium a popular product in the market.
(b) This makes the storage medium to be more popularized in the market.
My boss revises my original sentence (a) as sentence (b) and show me the usage of "make":
make A to V, or make A adj.
Is that true? |

There's nothing wrong with sentence (a), and it flows better. |

I agree wholeheartedly! The proposed revsison is extremly awkward, and probably incorrect as well. I think "to be" should be in the base form, not the infinitive. |

Thanks for your opinions on this matter. This is not the first time I doubt of my boss's revision. Maybe I should argue with my boss about the suspicious revision next time. After all, the translated document is for English native speakers. |

You should argue, if it won't get you fired. If your boss wants the brochure, or whatever it is, to go out with foreign-sounding English, that's his funeral.
If you are hired as a translator, your boss should let you translate...You are doing a better job than he is. |
