Hey,

I came across the defination of *discouraged worker*.

It sounds interesting, however, some part isn't clear enough.

worker resigned to having no job: a person who would be willing to take a job but who has stopped trying to find one and so is* not counted as being unemployed*

Why is that? so the person isn't officially unemployed? for his/her reputation?

No, it's so that the governments unemployment figures look better.
