I really like Japanese culture. I find it interesting. I want to move to Tokyo when I have the money and know the language. Right now the only things I know are basic terms. Nothing that would probably help me in the real world.

I am an English teacher living in Japan. I have been here for nearly 4 years. There are many good things about Japan such as feeling safe at all times and a great train system. Some things are bad or are difficult to live with as a foreigner.
My favourite things are summer matsuris (festivals) and izakayas (cheap eating and drinking places). In these situations you can really see the Japanese relax and enjoy themselves. After a few drinks they lose their shyness and love to talk and laugh. You can also see many pretty yukatas at a matsuri.

Not really. The grammar is no harder than any of the Romantic languages as far as verb conjugation. And the phonetics is mercifully easy with fewer consonant sounds (and very few clustered consonants) than any other language I've heard or tried to learn.
The one thing that makes it difficult for those of us from languages with phonetic based alphabets is the use of Japanese kanji or Chinese characters. Any given character can have many ways to pronounce it depending on its usage and custom. There are thousands you need to know just to read a newspaper. (Being a lazy student, I barely know about 100.) But being Chinese, you have a leg up on that! Smile
