Could anyone use *double-cross* in a sentence?

He *double-crossed* me by overchargin over 100 for a low-quality
jelwery. (Is that alright?)

betray associate: to betray or cheat somebody who believes that he or she is a partner or associate in the same, often criminal, enterprise

You'd need to say "piece of jewelry," but it is not a good use of "double cross." That would be simply cheating you, not double crossing you. To be double crossed, you need to have had an understanding of being on the same team, working together toward the benefit of both of you.

The politician promised the voters that he would fight hard for the average citizen, and he won his seat by a landslide. Then when he voted for legislation that strongly favored large drug companies, many of his supporters felt that he had double crossed them.

Sounds like Canada, Bud.
Our politicians double-cross us all the time. They also double- cross the USA quite frequently, and if they could they'd double cross the French, the Germans, and anyone else, to score a couple of cheap political points.

The jeweler said if I brought in some of my friends as customers, he'd give me a discount. But when we came in, he double-crossed me by overcharging me more than 50 quid for a piece of low quality jewelry.

That's sad to hear, Asterix. It sounds like Canada's politics are as bad as they are in the US.
