No - it used to be called cookery then it was promoted to home ec(onomy)
It's a fancy name for cooking, and all that stuff that people do to keep their homes nice, and their food tasting OK. It's pefectly in keeping with the desire of educators to replace a simple word like cookery with several that merely serve to confuse the peasantry.
For instance, learning experience instead of lesson.
Social studies instead of history.
It is a manifestation of inherent pomposity. |
