bound=on the way somewhere: traveling toward a particular place ( often used in combination )

I think in this case "bound" is the past tense of "bind." I'm not positive, though.
A land-bound trip to Alaska is a trip involving no air travel nor travel over water. - it is entirely travel over land.
I think the definition you found is slightly different. If you were on a ship at sea, you would be land-bound when the ship is headed for land. Then you would be travelling toward land with the intention of stopping there. |
