I don't know whether he exists or even whether I do. I am confused about that _________________ May the Force be with you! |

Hey Mr Admiral
truly spoken, really
I agree mostly with your opinion (not only in this theme I saw) and I really do think that discussing about such a controversial issue as "is there a god" or "do you believe in god" is kind of useless.. because nearly everyone has his/her own opinion - which is good! - and either isn't interested in discussing it or tries to convince someone else.
and often it ends up in a real arguement because two (or more) true pigheads - - meet and then... ---
see ya, many greets,

God is a name for a thing that is not material. It is not anything yet is everything.
God is the thing that the eye cannot see, nor the ear hear, nor the skin touch, nor the nose smell, nor the tongue taste - and yet it is that which causes the eye to see, ear to hear, skin to touch, nose to smell and tongue to taste.
God is the core of everything in all that is and is not. |

hi mat
no I think it's just your opinion what you are saying - not because I don't think that you're able to decide yourself what your opinion is or not, but because it is neither proven that there is a god nor that there is no god!
it is true that the scientists were able to explore the sky and the atmosphere above and even a (very little) piece of the universe and they truly found no god
but I think if there really is a god somewhere out there he (or maybe she ) cannot be explored or found by scientists. I think 'god' is more a kind of --believe, something that exists in our heads not in the outside world. I myself do not believe in any of the usual (if I can say that) religion believes but I do really think that there have to be a kind of superior might (should I say 'force' or 'power' here??) because there are still so many things that happen and from which we don't know a thing about that it may be easier to believe that there is a superior might than to try to explain it with some physical forces or reactions or whatever.
I think that the believe in god comes from the fear of deathand from our total lack of knowledge about the existence or non-existence after death. for most people it is really hard to believe that they would not 'live' anymore when they die. for me personally it would be unbearable if I knew that after death I could never think or live/... anymore, never and never again.
for some people religion is (unfortunately) only some kind of an 'every day - excuse' for everything they do. I believe they are often very religious people (maybe fanatics) and these people are often very strict and are picking every single word in the bible or the koran/... so that its proper meaning is totally contorted. that is why I don't believe in the usual religions and I do think that the bible/koran/.. is 'only' some kind of guideline for our life, see: you should steal etc.
and - at last - I can't understand people who act or who do sth and then say they have done it because the bible/koran does say it. even, how can a man kill another human being just because it stands in the bible/koran or just because he has a different belive in god????
that is a thing I will never ever understand....
so that was my monologue... hope it's not too much
greets, Sarah
ps: @Mr Admiral yes I know that there are many woman called 'Sarah' but what does that say?? I don't understand what you want to say! and I think that there are lots more people called 'Katharina' or 'Sandra'...
