Well, Isaac, you asked what we think of Islam. I'm sorry you are disappointed in the answers.
If Islam teaches that in the 21st century it is OK to stone a woman to death for extra marital sex, then you are backward barbarians.
Let me ask you when was the last time a man was stoned to death for extra-marital sex?
How many women are stoned to death in muslim countries compared to the number of men who are stoned to death? |

Astrix,
why did you choose such a name? Do you know where it comes from? Astrix (actually: Asterix) was an imagined Gaul (Celtic) hero of the Roman period, a caricature of sorts. There is a series of comic strip magazines from France.
Anyway, Astrix, I welcome you here for any discussion, but you must not feel let down by people who simply are unable to accept your view(s). I for one find it too hard to accept that people get stoned to death for such behaviour.
You accept it not so much because you feel it is a perfect and legitimate way of maintaining "moral" values; you have been growing up in an intolerant society that inculcated such "values".
Note that Christians once subscribewd to pretty similar customs. I am glad we have overcome this period.
LEt's not discuss whether Muslims are wrong or right; let's discuss whether Muslims can adapt and become more lenient.
If you kill people for what they do to others, with those other's consent, then aren't you basing yourself to the level of murderers?
As you see, I am against the death penalty under any circumstance. I am much more against it in the case of the lapidation penalty applied in the Middle East. As the previous poster pointed out, this is a discriminatory custom as it only penalises women, seldom or never men.
I am not saying Islam is a problematic religion; I respect Muslims and support their right to life and dignity; I do, however, take issue with this punishment. And, I do take issue with the treatment Muslims routinely mete out to women and to non-Muslims. Note I am not saying ALL Muslims discriminate against their own women and against "infidels"; but in the majority of countries the majority of Muslim men do!
What does your religion say about men that force women into having sex with them? Why does your religion allow men to kill a woman for having been the victim of rape? I don't believe Mohammad wanted his successors to adjudicate in such a fashion!
In his time, women were freer, wearing no chadors and being allowed to do work outside home without being followed by potentially jealous males from her own family.
Don't you think Muslims are obsessed with sexual deviance? Why do they care so much about carnal pleasures, legitimate or not? |

Raymond,
It is that gallic Asterix I am named after. I've always enjoyed those comic strips. Sometimes we have an Obelix on here too, so you and I are not the only ones who know him.
You can tell that Muslims really do believe that Allah holds the sky up.
It is pathetic that such ignorance exists in the 21st century, but it is obvious they do not want to be told the truth, but become offended if you question them. It is such closed minds that are the danger in any society, particularly when they form the majority..
It did not concern the liberal democracies when the Moslems were all living in their closed societies, but now they are moving in increasing numbers into those liberal democracies.
Their holy book says they must impose Islam, by force if necessary, on all of us.
As Dr. Samuel Schlorff, an expert on Islam with Arab
World Ministries puts it, "The truth is that there is
another side to Islam, a side that embraces violence
'in the way of Allah.' . . . It holds that all men
are created to live in submission to Allah, as
prescribed by Islamic law. Muslims believe that
Islam's destiny is to extend its control until the
whole Dar al-Harb [which means "House of War" -- that
is, the whole non-Muslim world] is subject to Islamic
law in an Islamic state, and this includes the use of
force." |

hey man we ain't blind, next time be more respectful of others you don't need to shout, people can hear you, if they decide not to listen it may not be 'cause you don't speak loud enough it may be 'cause you say nothing interesting. |

do you mean that being a muslim has nothing to do with faith, it has to do with birth, and nationality?
if you truly were a muslim deep in your heart you would not have said such a thing.
you might also not be in favor of stoning women to death, but hey what the hell you're not a muslim by faith you're just a muslim by birth, so afterall you wouldn't mind stoning a girl if she's caught doing a natural thing with a chap.
you'd better reread the koran my friend, and all of it, not just the parts some people had you study. |
