Dear teachers:
Would you tell me the difference between "phrase" and "phrasing"?
Thanks. |

A phrase is a group of words which is not a complete sentence by itself. The focus is on the group of words.
Phrasing (and also the verb to phrase) is referring to the choice of words used to express a thought. The focus is on the choice. |

Thank you bud. Is the same rule applicable to "word" and "wording"? Besides, wording refers to the choice of one word while phrasing refers to the choice of two words or more, is that right? |

Exactly, River, they are very similar... Often, wording and phrasing are used to describe the overall quality of a document or speech, but sometimes they refer to only a sentence or phrase.
I don't understand the wording of this contract... Laura, you're a lawyer - can you tell me what this really means?
E. Annie Proulx is a great writer. Her phrasing is so imaginative! |

Are "wording" and "phrasing" uncountable nouns? |

Hi River,
Yes wording and phrasing are both uncountable or collective nouns |
