self-worth

A well-known speaker started his work-shop with keeping up a check for 40 �. There were about 200 people sitting in the room. He asked:

"Who would like to have this check?"

Everyone's hands were going up.

He said: "I'll give this check to anyone of you but let me do one thing first." He rumpled the check. "Now, who still would like to have it?"
All the hands were still up. So he replied:

"What if I do this?" He threw the check on the floor and rubbed it against the dirty soles of his shoes. He picked the check up; it was rumpled and totally filthy. "So, does still anyone would like to have it?"
There were still all the hands up.

Then he said:
"Dear friends, we just learned a very valuable lesson. Whatever happened to this check, you wanted to have it, because it never lost his value. It is still and was always 40 �'s worth.
Often it happens in our life that we're repelled, floored, rumpled and draggled. That are facts of our every-day life. And then we feel like being worthless.

But no matter what happens or what will happen, YOU will never lose in value.

Filthy or clean, rumpled or dressed up, YOU are still priceless for all these people who adore you.
The worth of our life is not evaluated because of what we're doing or what who we know, but because of WHAT YOU ARE.
YOU are special - don't ever forget this!"
