Stay out of the pubs and 24-hour bars. They are full of drunk guys looking for fights.
Some people may seem rude to you. Don't take it personally. It is just a mask and their style of humor. Deep down, they are friendly and helpful.

What else... oh yeah, the food is not as bad as its reputation. They actually have a lot of good Indian and Chinese restaurants. Trains (and travel in general) is expensive.

Probably not, sorry. I was only there once as a tourist. Some of the advice I got was from Lonely Planet and from a few people at the JET discussion forum of http://www.bigdaikon.com/ (some of the people there are from GB and like to talk about their home). |
