What's a *hollaback girl*? Gwen Stefani has a new song, which is a little spirit-lifting and funky.

Here's the lyrics
-

Uh huh, this is my *beep*
All the girls stomp your feet like this

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my *beep*, this my *beep* [x4]

I heard that you were talking *beep*
And you didn't think that I would hear it
People hear you talking like that, getting everybody fired up
So I'm ready to attack, gonna lead the pack
Gonna get a touchdown, gonna take you out
That's right, put your pom-poms downs, getting everybody fired up

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my *beep*, this my *beep* [x4]

So that's right dude, meet me at the bleachers
No principals,no student-teachers
Both of us want to be the winner, but there can only be one
So I'm gonna fight, gonna give it my all
Gonna make you fall, gonna sock it to you
That's right I'm the last one standing, another one bites the dust

I've never heard of it. The song is referencing the game of American football (touchdown) and cheerleaders (pom-poms). Sometimes a cheerleader is stereotyped as a "goody-two shoes," someone who does everything the way adults expect her to. Sometimes the stereotype is as a groupie for the football/basketball stars, doing anything they want in hopes of becoming the girlfriend of one of them.

Stefani might be referring to the second stereotype, saying she is not like that.
