Hi, everyone.
Kyoto is a one of old city. But, Nara is a one of old city, too.
There is much kind of temples and historic site like Kyoto.
In Nara, There is Horyu-ji temple, which is registered with a world heritage and Daibutsu, which is a big Buddhist image and so on.
I think, Nara is a beautiful place, too. |

|

Hello, I introduce Japanese life style to you.
First, Japanese use chopsticks at meals. And rice is main food. Relationship between rice and miso-soupis very nice!! I like it.
Next, there is a bathtub in every Japanese bathroom. We fill it with water and enter there. We can relax and refresh myself. I can't imagine my life with no bathtub.
And Japanese take off their shoes at home. We put on our shoes only when we go out.
There are a lot of unique things in Japan. What I wrote former is a part of them. I think Japanese life style is interesting :D |

Hi! I am Japanese student.
Ms monkeystayle, you grew up in Nagano? I am pleased to here that you think Nagano is very pleasant place. I live in Kyoto now, but my hometown is Nagano! I know Zenkou-ji and Matsumoto-jo. Both of them are very good place to visit.
So, I want everyone to visit Nagano, too. There are beautiful nature and clean water and clean air.
Bye the way, I am going to visit Hokkaido in this summer vacation. Where is the place you recommend? Everyone, please advise me. |

You seem too blunt to know you are the unqualified one. sorry.
Who tells you people on a forum can just say nice things? what about different voice? and what do you mean about nice things? shall we just say: you look good! you are great! I totally agree! that is huge! I love you!...suchlike? I say so sometimes when I think it is necessary. however, what if I have different viewpoints? don't say anything? haha! sounds like you are God BUT YOU ARE NOT. |

what's your problem?! you're really the right one to talk about offense..
it's not about only making compliments, but you should be able to make constructive critics without offenses, and you should be able to tolerate it.
you just could say what you don't like about japan instead of affront all japanese here. "japan sucks" is really rude besides, too.
i've never been in japan, but i'd like to make a travel-around-the-world and then i'd go to japan too and see the fujiyama and tokyo and so on..
but there are some really nice japanese manga/tv-series i like to watch sometimes

To all
When people mention Japan and Japanese, I always can't help thinking of some bamboo cages and bloody babies. that was so inhuman and cruel.
About 3 years ago, I went to LvShun of DaLian for a medicine conference. I visisted a Prison built by Japan, and the guide told us:"see those bamboo cages? in those years, Japanese soldiers forced Chinese youngmen to weave these cages, and after Chinese finished their work, those Japanese soldiers bended Chinese people into half length and stuffed them into those cages one by one, one cage for a Chinese, actually, then those chinese were still alive, those Japanese soldiers threw those cages into a huge pit which had been dug by Chinese themselves, and then Japanese soldiers covered those cages with soil!"
Listenig to her explanations, I felt very hurt and couldn't help crying, and I asked:"those buried Chinese people were all men? what about their families?" the guide told me:"their wives were raped by Japanese soldier. Japanese even cut open some pregnant Chinese women's bellies and fetched babies out, they cooked a kind of soup named delicious babe soup. of course, those pregnant women died."
Then I just felt like someone was tearing and smashing my heart! that night I even couldn't fall asleep. very hard night. that hard night, I kept thrilling...I won't visit that cruel Japanese prison anymore, I can't stand that.
Sorry, I just can't pretend to like Japan or Japanese. those bamboo cages and bloody babies always exist in my mind, forever. |

Red Rose,
You are right. These are terrible atrocities. However, there are many others. For example, the incident where two girls were flogged until they were only half alive. Then they had their hands and feet cut off. Finally they were flung into vats of wine until they drowned.
And there was the case where a man was wrapped in oil soaked rags, then hung upside down and the rags at his feet were set alight. This was called Lighting the Candle.
I can provide a hundred more examples of such barbarism.
And you have not mentioned other atrocities. You have not mentioned the atrocities carried out in Germany under Hitler, or in Russia under Stalin, or the atrocities carried out by the British and the Americans by sending thousands of airplanes to bomb German cities and innocent civilians during WW2. You have not mentioned recent atrocities in Darfur, in East Timor, in Bosnia, in Iraq, and in Rwanda or the atrocities carried out by the Taliban.
May I suggest that it is good to hate the individuals who carried out such atrocities but it is not good to hate the nations from where the perpetrators came. If so, you are going to hate many countries. You are going to have to hate China, for the atrocities I mentioned at the beginning were carried out by Chinese.
And have you shut your eyes to the atrocities carried out during the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution? These two movements caused millions of deaths, all Chinese deaths and all perpetrated by Chinese on their own people. Does this mean that China sucks?
Have you shut your eyes to the three related nation-wide political programs that were initiated in China during 1950-51, which resulted in several million killings. These were: Land Reform, "suppression of counter-revolutionaries," and Resist-US-Aid-Korea. Do you hate China? Does this mean that China sucks?
By all means hate the perpetrators of atrocities but please do not widen your blind hate to the land where the villains come from. |
