Dear teachers:
(a) The weighing member is a box receiving a bottom bar and a plurality of metal slices.
(b) The weighing member is a box *for* receiving a bottom bar and a plurality of metal slices.
Are there any differences between (a) and (b)?
Thanks. |

Yes.
a. Means that the weighing member is a box receiving a bottom bar and a plurality of metal slices. (Which does not quite make sense)
b. Means that the weighing member is a box that is built for the purpose of receiving the following items; a bottom bar, and a plurality of metal slices. |
