Which fits better, with or without?

i'd say with..
so then : "The Apple is about two teen daughters as virtual prisoners (wrong written or unknown word??) by their father."
and what's a 'virtual prisoner'???
i didn't checked the meaning of this sentence.. sorry

virtual prisoner, meaning not let out of the house
to go where or when they choose. as in locked up.
