The students' union, which said it had bee led to believe that the art students were mounting a more traditional exhibtion, suffered a serious *humour failure* yesterday.
What could that 've meant?

It seems that the art students did something they thought was funny, but the people at the student union did not think it was so funny. The writer is suggesting that the student union people don't have a sense of humor, or their sense of humor "failed". |
