i'd say it's french and means "and you".. could be latin also, meaning the same.
otherwise - no idea!

It is Latin. It is the famous quotation from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. When Caesar is being stabbed to death, he says to his friend Brutus, who is one of the murderers, "Et tu, Brute?" (You too, Brutus?)
It is used as an expression of surprise and dismay at the treachery of someone you considered a friend. |

I'm sure there are many well-known quotes from Goethe that I'm not familiar with, stellara, but you were correct as to the meaning. |
