Hi,

Do you consider demo a prefix or a root? I think the word has two roots, Greek demos, and -graphy, another root. Does it make sense?

Thanks.

I think it does. There are a lot of multi-rooted words in any language (at least in Russian and English).

You might also consider...
demos - (Greek =of the people)
-graphy - suffix forming nouns that denote a method or style of writing, drawing etc., or a descriptive science, such as geography, or demography.

Ok, that is my question, is -graphy a suffix or root?

Thanks.

I checked different dictionaries and searched for the info on the Internet, and found both are from Greek roots. However, graph seems to be cataloged in the list of Greek suffixes at some websites, which doesn't convince me while I noticed the the root of gram is listed in the catalog of suffixes.

dem, demos = the people
graph, grapho = to write
