days ago, I chatted with a Arabian guy via MSN, he asked me:"what are you doing?"

I answered:"I am killing virus in my computer!" he laughed, and he said:"I bet your sentence is wrong! you should say I am removing viruses from my computer!"

Why was it wrong? Kill virus, I thought, means make viruses dead.

can you tell me?

thanks

In colloquial English, what you said is fine: killing a virus/killing viruses.

If you wanted to get reaallly nit-picking technical, you are not removing the viruses either. "Removing" implies they are going someplace else. Technically, you are erasing them. But killing works just fine.
