2. There are a cat and dog. cat and dog are singular. "Are" is wrong
3. There are two cats and dog.
There are two cats and a dog
there are two cats and dogs
4. There is a cat and two dogs. Correct.
Interesting problem here. The correct answer can depend on the context. |

May I say this:
There are two cats and a dog.
There is a cat and two dogs.
BE goes with the first subject. Correct?
