He flashed a brand new car.
He flaunted a brand new car.

Are these the same?

Thanks.

No, not the same.

If you flaunt something you deliberately try to make people notice your possessions, beauty, abilities etc, because you want them to admire you.

You cannot flash a car but you can flash your boobies at men if you like(or flash your unmentionables at females).

you can also use the flash on your camera when you are inside of a building taking pictures, and you can see a flash of lightening, and your life can flashed before your eyes, and flash can be the name of your dog...
there are many, many definitions to the word flash.

and boobies? that's a very elementary term that you used when giving such a detailed definition.

Can you flash a brand new bill? Flash seems to be a fast action, whereas flaunt may not.

Yes, I'd say both statements are correct, BMO.
