How can I make a question with the word 'when' without changing its meaning for this sentence:

I don't understand, Mings. Do you mean something like:
Since last summer, when have you seen your uncle?
When have you seen your uncle since last summer? |

Yes. I want to do like that but I am afraid something is wrong beauce I think when I use 'when' the tense of the verb should be the simple past not the present perfect.
I don't know whether I am right?

I don't think that's true, Mings. Even if that is what grammar books say, I think many native speakers do not pay attention to it. |
