this is definitely an old question. everyone has the different answer.

In many people's cases, of course, a friend means loyalty, generosity, etc, but in my case, more importantly, a friend should be funny, intelligent, at least he/she can share jokes with me. he/she shouldn't be stupid. I don't like too serious friends.

guys, what dose a friend mean for you?

that's important, too, but for me a friend is someone who is there for me when i'm in a crisis.
for example, when i'm really ill or psychically not fine in some way, and i call my friend, i expect him or her to be there for me. maybe even to come to me and help me as far as he/she can.

a wise woman has said, true friendship doesn't critizise in times of trouble, doesn't say prudentially "if you had done it in such-and-such way.." but just opens its arms and says: i don't ask, i don't judge, here's a heart, here you can rest.

maybe that sounds corny but i find it really true..

greets

yeah. that is also important. I never criticise my friends when they come to a pass. instead, I, sometimes, even would do something wrong to help them.

I once replaced my best friend to take an exam by which she could get a job. in order to look like her, I even had my hair cut. when I entered into the exam class, I was very afraid. Finally, I passed that exam and she got that job. later my mom knew about this true and condemned me, but I didn't regret. because my best friends defintely couldn't have passed this exam if she had taken this exam herself, she was very bad at lessons.

Of course, we used to share jokes, sad things...but now she lives in my homecity, far away from me. all we have in common are those nice memories. that is enough.
