A is for apple, V is for victory. Is this the same as:
A represents apples, and V represents victory?
Thanks.

Yes it means that.
There is a phonetic alphabet in use by the military (NATO) and radio amateurs that uses words to confirm the spelling of unusual names etc., to remove all ambiguity.
If you want to spell dog, using the phonetic alphabet, you say, "Delta, Oscar, Golf." The person on the receiving end takes the first letter of each of those words and uses them to spell the word.
The phonetic alphabet currently in use is: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Zulu. |
