I was installing an upgrade to my securiy software over the weekend, and my system got clobbered. I managed to get that fixed, but now I have a leftover problem with Internet Explorer. (Outlook works fine.)
The Problem: After I click on ten or so links in IE, all further clicks get the "Page not found" webpage. I can close IE and reopen it, but the problem continues from the first click.
What I've done:
a. I've reinstalled IE, to no effect.
b. I've gone to Uninstall Programs and gotten the option to fix rather than uninstall. I tried that, again to no avail.
c. I uninstalled IE. Good old Microsoft only gives you the option to reinstall the previous version. I tried that. No good.
d. I tried uninstalling the previous version of IE. Same result.
Now, IE doesn't show up in the list of programs to change or uninstall, but it's still on my computer - I'm using it now! But then I tried again to reinstall IE. Still no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please?
Thanks! |

Sorry bud. I'm not a software engineer so I couldn't help you with this matter. But Soymilk's solution sounds feasible. |

i used the internet explorer before, and there were so many difficulties with it, that i changed to firefox, which is quite good and doesn't cause so many problems i'd recommend too, that you just change the browser. firefox is said to be much safer, too, so you probably won't have many problems with worms or such things.

Well, that wasn't the fix, but at least it told me it wasn't the browser's fault. I've done a bunch of other things, and finally it seems to be working normally again. (I think I must have rebooted about 50 times this week.) Even though the problem wasn't with IE, I'm sticking with Firefox. Thanks again for your help, Soy! |
