The girls don't waste any time before applying gel (for hair?), curling locks, even crimping.
Does anyone know the difference between *crimping* and * curling locks*?

crimping is done with two small, flat irons that are connected together to make curly hair straight.
curling locks - locks refers to hair and curling is using a long, round iron to make hair curly.

Um!
I have never heard of crimping being used to straighten hair (but I am not an expert on ladies hairstyling).
However, my daughter gets her long hair or her pony tail crimped from time to time. This has many tiny waves put in it about 1 cm (1/2 inch) apart. |
