"lying heart"?? and "no less deadly"??

everything about him was a lye - from his smile, to his voice, to the way he horribly treated people. he was an evil person to the core of his body, like the core of an apple or the core of the earth...down to the middle, most detailed parts of his body. |

I suppose that this is a typo... Lye is another name for caustic soda or potassium hydroxide.
The word you want is lie. |
