Over his conniving, cheating, *lying core*, J.R. spread a glistening patina of Texas crude that made him irresistible, but no less deadly. Who didn't want to shoot him, darlin'?

"lying heart"?? and "no less deadly"??

Thanks

everything about him was a lye - from his smile, to his voice, to the way he horribly treated people. he was an evil person to the core of his body, like the core of an apple or the core of the earth...down to the middle, most detailed parts of his body.

but no less deadly - this phrase followed a generally positive quality - irrestible... So, this positive characteristic did not lessen his deadliness, his evilness.

I suppose that this is a typo... Lye is another name for caustic soda or potassium hydroxide.

The word you want is lie.
