Please help me analyse the sentence.
" Noise pollution generally receives less attention than does air pollution."
The thing I don't understand is that "does" is used. Please show the full sentence.

Not sure what you are looking for, but here's my stab at it:
Noise pollution generally receives less attention than attention air pollution does receive.  |

i think you could let go the "does" but it compounds the meaning a little.
if you phrase the sentence further you can say: "noise pollution generally receives less attention than air pollution receives" (the second "receives" is left out because it would be a repetition. you can't have no verb so you use the auxiliary verb form "does")
although i'd say "noise pollution generally receives less attention than air pollution does" .. _________________ Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened!
