Hallooo,
being in possesion of far developed cars and machines might account for the American's change.
Is it right when expressing it that way? Or have I used just the wrong word and "to account for" is wrong after all.
??

Being in possession of (technically) advanced cars and machines might account for the American's change.
If you mean more than one American you should write Americans'
You have used account for correctly. |

American's = talking about one American that has possession of something
Americans' = talking about many Americans that have possession of something.
maybe asterix's sentence was talking about one American who had possession of something.
