Does a clipboard look like a binder? The kind of binder like board that nurses use when calling out names of waiting patients?

No, they are slightly different animals.
When I say "binder", I mean something that looks like an empty book cover and has 2 or 3 big rings. You use a hole-puncher to make holes in the side of a sheet of paper, and slip it into the rings. If you have many sheets, you can hold them in the binder and read through them like a book.

A "clipboard" is a thin hard board with a spring-loaded clip or clamp at the top to press against the board to hold your papers.
