Some people would question the quality of computer gaming, it could be said that computers are so powerful their games should be more good looking and powerful, it can also be said that we have seen what graphics Computers are capable of creating through movies like shrek or final fantasy.
Others could argue though that such a game would be extremely large and powerful and that most computers would not be able to support such a large game.
But after the release of Half Life 2 i have seen how large games can get and i dont believe that it would be such a problem to have games get so big.
What do you guys think?

First of all I have written this before in other forums! Half life 2 is quite a large game and not all computers can support it still! But games on pc's aren't good yet as people have different spec PCs and try to make it so everyone can play them but as more and more people are ditching old PCs and getting more up to date ones the better the games will be as more people will be able to play the more high quality games so the manufactures will make more quality games as more people will get PCs so they can make games better as more people will be able to buy them! Its all to do with money! They make not as high quality games so people with the less lower spec PCs which is quite a lot will still buy them and then the manufacture make more money as its for a bigger audience of PCs and not just the high spec ones! But as I said as more PC's are being bought and have better specs they will make games for more of those PCs and as the PCs can support more quality games they will make the game better and then more people will still buy it as they will have better pc's and not many people will have crap PCs so game makers wont have to make poorer games just for those people to buy!

The Ps2 is the same specs on every Ps2 so everyone can get the game fro it, so if everybody had a 320GB hard drive with top quality specs and all those specs were the same on everybody elses PCs they will make the best games ever as everyone ill be able to run them!

So why has no-one gone and made an amazing game with incredible movie graphics for the most up to date computers?

Surely it can be done!

Of course it can but look at it like this:

If you make a game, you want to sell it as many people as you can to make loads of money! But not many people can run really high spec games as they have rubbish PC's and msot people have rubbish or average PC's so they make the game in less quality so people with average, rubbish and high spec PC's can still buy the game! As not many people have a mazing PC's not many people would buy the game as they might not be able to run it due to their pc not being very good! So they offer their games to a wider range of people so more of the games will bought as people with rubbish PC's can still buy it and play it on their rubbish pc! So more people will buy the game and the game maker company will make more money as more people can play it ont heir machines as o many people don't have very good PC's! If everyone had a brilliant pc, the game company's will make brilliant games and everyone could run it on their pc and would make loads of money but as that sin't true they make the games not so good for people who want to buy the game and can run it on their pc, because if they wanted the pc they would try and play it but wouldn't have enough space or the game would run slow and get thie rmoney back or if people checked the requiments they wouldn't buy it full stop but if a game can be played for more people the more the game company makes!!

I hoep you cna understand that!

Yes, I'm agree.
In my opinion,I has waek points of PC games for three reasons.First, games have limit in their space. The space of one CD-PC is 800 MB.Some games were written for specific information. However, their limited space made another forms of games be less. Second, cinemas(animation) is better than graphics. The quality of graphics can be excellent like animation movies. It is quite not real. For example,Final fantasy, it's animation movie to make from PC game. Finally, freedom on writing games is too much. Some games was written for the wrong morals. It may have some effects to people. For example,Couter-Strike,it's about the war.
I think,PC game is better than now if it will be developed.
What do you think?

hm i happen to know a bit about computer animation.
first of all, modern computer games can not get the great quality of animation movies like final fantasy (yet). I'm sure all of you know what movie really is.. many pictures shown fast after eachother. in 3d animation, the makers of these movies have a renderpark. a renderpark is a room full with powerfull computers probably much more powerfull than the one's we have at home.
in an average movie you have about 25 to 30 pictures/frames each second. each picture in that quality takes from about 1 to 5 hours to calculate for those computers. go ahead and calculate how much time it takes for your pc to calculate a movie of 5 minutes Very Happy thats why they have many computers calculating day and night. and that's why you can't have this kind of quality in a video game. it just takes way to much time for a computer to calculate the models, lightning, shadow etc. there are a few games on the market that look quite good. but look at the models and levels.. 3d animation is still way beter looking Wink

hm it's not the gigabytes that make game look nice. a game of 500mb can look better than one of 5gb. a game could have many many graphics and maybe short movies and music. this kind of stuff takes most of your space. it's the speed of your processor and videocard and memory that makes your pc fast enough to run the most modern pc games. so if your pc cant handle a new game very well.. maybe you should look for a new video card with the newest technology
