It's easy, just use other login name like element106.

Speaking of Sino-US trading relationship, the US won't make China easy to be one of its biggest trading partner due to the trade deficit and diminishing manufacting jobs which impact on American workers. They say China has undervalued their currency by 40 percent for nearly a decade, which they consider as unfair trade practices, so they always impose a tariff on Chinese's goods to fight back.

How to close this gap is tough. China already revalued their currency, the yuan, by 2 percent, but the US thinks it is not significant enough to save American jobs. Undoubtly I think, the result would be the same, if China even revalued the yuan by 4 or 8 percent in one or two years, as the same thing in Europe, like jeans and books, costs you as much as ten times in China. So I know why the service in a shop or restaurant isn't very good towards the Chinese.

To "no more hurricanes" I say "I agree",though I really don't know if the earth agrees with me.

Does "China is now America's biggest trading partner" mean taiwan is becoming no more or less in considering of the Sino-US relationship, and that is the sticking point like some dark clouds floating in the blue sky.off topic? Embarassed

Ok,back to the forum's technical hitch, seems most people think so,will someone of us disappear someday, hell, how could we get back then Confused

China has learned from the revaluation of yen,I guess the same thing won't happen to us,it just adopted the monetary policy that sticked Yuan to USD until this year, but that didn't replace taiwan issue as the most important affair between two countries.Early or late,America has to decide which one is heavier.

Element, I hope you won't be offended if I point out that, cynically, rather than sarcastically, is what you had in mind.

I don't think he'll take offence at your sincere correction.
Thanks a lot, Mr. Asterix, but, by the way, what's the difference between a sarcastic remark and a cynical remark?

Not a all.Instead,I am very glad that someone corrects my mistake, you know after my graduation from college,it is a couple of years that I haven't met an english teacher correcting my poor english expression Sad What's the difference between the two, sarcastically and cynically?

yeah these words are difficult to distinguish.. Wink

there is irony which all of you probably know
Wikipedia wrote:
Irony is a form of expression in which an implicit meaning is concealed or contradicted by the explicit meaning of the expression. Irony involves the perception that things are not what they are said to be or what they seem.

the next step leads us to sarcasm
Quote:
Sarcasm is sneering, jesting, or mocking a person, situation or thing. It is often used in a humorous or ironical manner and is expressed through vocal intonations such as over-emphasizing the actual statement or particular words.

and then there's cynicism which normally has less to do with irony than sarcasm. Today cynicism is mostly connected with the attitude of a person which is expressed in malicious, invadious expressions. Also can be a kind of resigned note. the black humor is a big part of cynicism.

you can maybe distinguish the expressions cynicism and sarcasm better if you read this example:

Cynical is when the one who beats up says "Yeah? Was it good? Should I beat you once again?"

Sarcastical is when the one who is beaten up says instead of starting to cry " 'Course! Right over again!"

clear? Wink greets!

A cynic is someone who has little faith in human kindness and sincerity,
cynical describes this.

e.g... JOHN: Jim goes to see his mother every day , runs errands for her, and does her gardening.
RICHARD: He's just doing it for her money.
Richard is a cynic.

Sarcasm
is a bitter or wounding remark; a taunt, especially when it's ironically worded, and language consisting of this.
sarcastic is the adjective for this.

e.g. Your team mate tries to catch a baseball, but drops it. You say, "Nice catch, Fred!"
