I happened to see a piece of beautiful writing from other forum.

Here it is:

Age 5, I said I love you, you twisted your head and blinked your crystal-clear eyes, confused to ask me: “What do you mean?”



Age 15, I said I love you, you blushed and hung your head in shame, seems you were smiling.




Age 20, I said I love you, you put your head on my shoulder, arm-in-arm tightly, afraid of that I would disappear in the next second~
Age 25, I said I love you, you put the breakfast on the table, ran to rub my nose and said: “ I see! Lazybones, time to get up!”




Age 30, I said I love you, you smiled and said : “If you really love me, don't stroll around after work, and, don't forget to buy the food I asked you!”



Age 40, I said I love you, you were tidying up the dishes and nagging : "Well, well, help son review the assignment!"



Age 50, I said I love you, you were weaving sweater without holding up your head, “Really? You're only too anxious to hope I will die earlier in your heart of hearts.” Then you giggled all along~



Age 60, I said I love you, you smiled and gave me a fist, “ My old man! The grandchild has grown up, you're still loquacious!”



Age 70, we sat down on the rocking chair, had on presbyopic glasses, enjoyed the love letters which I wrote to you 50 years ago, our creasy hands grasped again, I said I love you at that time, you looked at me with deep feelings, your face which was full of furrows still beautiful...the boiled water on the camp stove bubbled with vapour, warm current filled in the whole house...



Age 80, you said you love me. I said nothing, because I was shedding tears, but it was the happiest time in my life, because you finally spoke out that sentence “I-Love-You.”

But in China, I seldom hear couples tell each other I love you, especially aged people. I never heard my parents tell each other I love you. I guess, if my dad told my mom I love you, then my mom would think my dad was insane and mom would probably freak out!

Basically, Chinese people are very reserved and shy.

In English language,except word "love",is there any other words for one to express different love to parents,wife/husband,kids and friends?I just know "love" is almighty applied in these conditions.

It is a characteristic instance of difference of culture between easten national and westen national. The westen people are direct when they want to express their emotion,feeling or opinion. Opposite, the easten people are implicative that they seldom told their feeling directly.

My parents love each other. All the parents love their children althoght they seldom to say "I love you!", so all the children.

love is in our heart, don't to say every day ,to do it.

As you know, Element105, love not only means having strong feelings of affection for somebody who is romantically and sexually attracted to another adult. I went through my dictionary, but I found no synonym on it. Maybe you can give your question to all those helpful foreign guys on 'Learning English' forum.

when I watch some west movies, I always feel that western people say the word love very easily! But Chinese people seldom say love to their beloved one, even if they really really love that person.

I think that is just a matter of culture. besides, western people are very good at expressing their emotions and feelings. by comparison, Chinese people always feel embarrassed whlie expressing their feelings.

When my friends and I watch some movies together, if a chinese man says love you to that woman for many times on the movie, we won't think that's true.

In general, western people sleep with others earlier than chinese people living in the cities do.

I should be more serious.

Look, at a non-virgin, my first thought is that she has had split up with her former boyfriend.
And then, I will think that she uses to get split up.
Then, I think that, if she has a higher possibility to get split up with me, why should I be in love with her?

Perhaps many muslim guys here share my opinion. For more explanation, you could ask them. (I have many muslim friends)
