Please explain what it means:
"Millions of pounds' worth of damage has been caused by a storm which swept across the north of England last night."

That means the value of the things damaged or destroyed is in the millions of pounds.

Now, I'm actually not sure how they come up with those numbers, it may be the value of the items/property etc, or the expense to clean it up and replace damaged and destroyed goods and equipment etc.
