Hi I am korean
What do you think of a dog meat?
I often have the dog meat.
Although you blame me of eating dog, I think it is delicious, very healthful food and our country's special food culture.
Don't worry about that we eat a pet dog.
I am sure that the dog bring up seperately between food and pet.

Do you have any information about other country's special food culture?

Please reply to me Very Happy

Well,

I know in Central America they eat a giant pig/rat animal called tepisquintle (I think that's the spelling). They also eat iguana and snake and unfortunately turtle eggs.

In Canada some people eat muskrat, a small beaver-like water mamal. (not me though Surprised ), bear, deer, squirrel, rabbit, etc...

Personally, I think vegetarian is the way to go.

Take care,

Corey

hi eveyone...
i am from taiwan..
maybe u dont know where it is
but i can describe some information about taiwan..
it is next chia and under japan... it is a beautiful place
and most of all poeple are kind ...and work hard..
but ..it is a pity that we become dirty place..everyone throw garbage
everywhere..althought in that way...we have a loot of delicious food..

chiken's butt , jewel- milk-tea, snake,
every part of pig ..ex: pig's ear and tounge....and heart...
and there are many food..but i dont know how to call it that let u know about it clearly....
for example...
"black egg"--->that uses egg to put in horse's water(stale) for a long time
it smells badly...but it is delicious...and it is a good food along with rice
"bin-lun"---just like "rubber sugar"...but it is not health for people
if u eat it often....and it can make u feel hot and spiritable.....
and u chew it in your mouth for a long time...then u will get some red water in your mouth....

Perhaps u will feel unbelieveble or strange... but that is our culture..
if anyone wants to know about my culture....
u can ask me more

Hi! Im Japanese girl.
I dont think cruel to eat dogs, because Japanese ate cats during World War two.
Japanese also ate whale. Do you think this custom is bad?
I live in Nagoya. Nagoya has a custom to eat sparrow.
I like sparrow. But myfriends frown on this custom.
Please tell me your opinion.

I am from Hong Kong. Most Hong Kongers like to eat rare and wild animals. Eating dogs and snakes is common to us. Some people even eat swans, bears, worms, ants, monkeys etc. They think that these food are good for them. Do you guys know the outbreak of SARS is caused by people who kill wild animals? Do you know how they contracted the disease? It is told while they were killing the animals, the disease of the animals passed on people. What do you think? If it is true, is it worth eating those wild animals? Can any other food be replaced by them?

hi, everyone!
I'm MonMon from Shanghai.
I gonna introduce some Chinese food to you. well, as we all know, eating is the most important thing to traditional Chinese. there's a Chinese saying that Chinese eat all the stuffs in the sky except airplanes and all the stuffs in the river except boats. Wink

it is true that Hong kongese and cantonese like rare and all kinds of freakish wild animals. (They are famous for that!) Laughing

I heard that there is a special way eating monkeys in Hongkong and Canton, well, they use a special kind of tableswhich have holes in the middle of them which are about the same size of monkey's necks. they stuck a monkey which is still alike in that hole and use a hammer to break the skull of the monkey... Shocked (personally, i think it is very crul to do so ) and than, they use spoons to eat the brain. Rolling Eyes

and eating rare wild animals really caused SARS! that is terrible.

People in other part of China also eat freakish food which are really insufferable for me,like dogs, snakes, shark fin, lynex and yak.(they are very popular in Shanghai's restaurants). Rolling Eyes And most of Chinese are very brave to eat every part of an animal such as tongu, stomach and even *beep*.( can't believe it! I'll never eat such odd stuffs!)
Confused
I've once had some meat of kangaroo in Australia. well , it didn't really taste good. and my uncle once brought me some otter, i didn't know it was otter that time, so I ate a little. that really make me wanna barf! Evil or Very Mad

Shanghai is famous for traditional Chinese snack food.
And u can find all kinds of restaurants from all over the world. Wink

Hi MonMon,

I think eating monkeys in this cruel way will not happen in Hong Kong nowadays. I heard this horrible thing from my grandma when I was a child. It is common in old days. Recently, Hong Kongers like to go to Shenzhen or Chung Shan to eat exotic food such as civet cats, pangolins and phyeasants. They think eating these animals are good for health.
For me alone, I disagree to eat wild animals because it is not envirnomental friendly.

Hi, everyone!

But I don't think dogs eating is bad.
I think dogs eating is one of customs, and the custom is not bad.

Take care!

Well sorry for interrupting this nice conversation with my outdated western point of view, but I thought of some variety in this Chinese/Japanese/Taiwanese discussion Wink

I don't think, that there is an significant differenz between eating cats/dogs as you told and eating cattle and pigs, as it is tradition here.

The main basic of food here are potatoes and bread. For breakfast some people have also cornflakes or muesli. When we don't have potatoes for lunch, there are rice or noodles.
As nobody has time and time is money, fast food restaurants like MC Donald or pizza restaurants are very popular here.

How many meals do you have per day? And when do you have them?
I have breakfast at 6:15 a.m. , lunch at 3:30 p.m., sometimes I have some sweets like buiscuit or cake at 5 o'clock...... what about you?

Very Happy A lot of delicious food here~~~~~~~I want to try......
I 'm from hu nan of China!
Maybe the frend from Shanghai knows Changsha is full of delicious food!
they are not only delicious but also special!
My foreign teacher from US like to eat a kind of snack named"skinny tofu"
It's a kind of beancurd which was fried in a bowl of cooking oil!
When the beancurd was fried hard, you can put them out of oil.then you must mix them with some special capsicum .
It smells bad,but it tastes wonderful! Razz

I know that so many asians like to eat wild animals. But as you know, that may cause some diseases, like SARS,and also my own opinion that it is enough to eat chiken, beef, pork, duck, etc. when we want to eat meat!Animals as dogs and cats are so clever, why we have to destroy the harmonious relationship with them?!
