Although some birds living today can't fly, they certainly *evolved* from ancestors that could.
Shouldn't it be the opposite of *evolve* if you losing an ability?

That's an interesting questions missdaredevil! To me, "evolve" is not positive or negative in its meaning. It just means a gradual change, so it's possible to evolve into losing an ability. I think some of the birds who can't fly became very large and were able to run fast, so they had other ways to protect themselves. |
