Hello, everybody
Fasting in islam is differnt from any culture. Muslims fast one month. It is RAMADAN. They fast before sanrise to sunsit. After sansit, they break fasting. They can't eat, drink, ..etc, when they are fasting.
Fasting ramadaan has many goals. If you want to know more about ramadaan, you can look to this web

Supposedly there is some health benefit to decreased caloric intake. Strangely enough, there is a correlation: the less you eat, the longer you live.
But in this case, fasting during Ramadan, there is a spiritual component. You sacrifice something you want or willingly endure suffering to show devotion to something else (Allah) or some cause. In a way, from my meager understanding, it is somewhat similar to the Catholic Christian practice of Lent (the reasoning there being: Christ sacrificed for you, what will you sacrifice for Him?). |

When I was a senior high school student, I studied "Ramadan" from history class. I was very interesting about it. Like you said, it's only in Islam culture. But i have question that if you don't eat anything from sunrise to sunsit, do you have energy to do anything?? |

Yes it is hard, if you have NOT goals for fasting. You should bileve and read about fasting benefit. Then you will have a STONG HEART.
Mandy Dai asked
do you have energy to do anything??
It is a good qusetion . ONE goal of the fasting is "keep your energy to do right things and stay far away from worng things
pugachevV asked
What is the point of all this fasting?
You should visit the website and keep READING, but you can see down.

ooooh, I feel sad for you .
Could you read what did DOCTORS do?
The Swiss doctor Barcellus wrote:
The benefit of hunger as a remedy is many times better than using medicines. Doctor Helb used to forbid his patients to eat for several days, then he would offer them light meals. In general, fasting plays a role in destroying the worn-out tissues at the time of hunger, then rebuilds them when food is ingested. This is the reason why some scientists, including Pashutin, regard fasting as a means of restoring youth.
Tom Burns of the Columbia School of Journalism says: I regard fasting as an experience which is deeply spiritual more than physical. Despite the fact that I started to fast with the aim of losing excess weight, I realized that fasting is very beneficial for the mind. It helps me to see with greater clarity and to develop new thoughts and to focus my feelings. Within only a few days of starting my fast in the spa I began to feel that I was passing through a very spiritual experience.
Of course fasting may be harmful and extremely difficult for some people in certain situations; Allaah has exempted them from fasting such as those who are sick and those who are traveling.
For more information about fasting benefits, you can visit this web
http://www.islam-qa.com/index.php?ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=41869&dgn=4&ln=eng
It is easy easy easy to read it.
Have a nice time. |

So, as I understand - you only fast from dawn till dusk, now when the days are short?
It is several small fasts rather than fasting for a month.
Not such a big deal really. |
