My London based train company has just changed the way it announces the arrival of trains at their platforms:
"The train arrived at Platform 2 is the 18:45 to St Albans"

This doesn't sound right to me? They used to say "the train standing", which sounds much better. I mean, you wouldn't say "the train now waited at Platform 2...?"

Can anyone tell me if/why this is wrong or why the continuous form does not fit this scenario ("the train now arriving at platform 2..." implies it hasn't come to a halt - it has)?

Thanks.
