Hi.
Hope this finds your health is good and your heart is full.
Please read the following sentences. To my ear, [4] sounds a bit odd, as I imagine saving in the sentence refers to thrifty management in general, and contradicts with "my" kerosine. Am I right in the interpretation?
Any and all comments would be appreciated.
[1] I'm saving kerosine to a great extent this year.
[2] I'm saving on kerosine to a great extent this year.
[3] I'm saving my kerosine to a great extent this year.
[4] I'm saving on my kerosine to a great extent this year.

In my opinion, "saving on" indicates that I'm buying it at a better price now than before. "Saving" means using less. _________________ If a man constantly aspires is he not elevated?

Does that lead to the leaving-out of [4] as sounding strange?
Thanks, David.
