Hi,

When people say : "I got a late start." to explain why they're late, does it mean they start off going out for dating or visiting people too late? Or what does it mean? Thanks.

Leslie

If they are late and say that, it means they started getting ready and left later than they had planned. For example:

You were supposed to be here at 6:00. It's 7:00 now. Why are you late? Sorry. I got a late start. I took a nap and didn't wake up until 6:15.

(By the way, a post like this would fit better in the "Help Center" or the "Learning English" Forum)

Thank you very much for your reply. Oops! I must have clicked the wrong section. I remember I posted in Help Center. I didn't know it turned out to be in this section. Anyway, thank you very much.
