I need to know the verb tense of the following sentence for my ESL learner:
"I should have had more time to review these exercises."
Please specify the parts of the sentence, i.e., subject, verb, predicate. . . |

Comments:
The verb in "I should have had more time to review these exercises" is should have had�which is a modal perfect form. This form is not like "normal" verb tenses because the modal auxiliaries (can, could, may, might, etc.) do not form tenses in the same way as "normal" verbs.

Here is how I would analyze the parts of the sentence "I should have had more time to review these exercises":
subject: I
verb phrase: should have had
direct object of the verb phrase: more time
infinitive phrase modifying time: to review these exercises
Within the verb phrase, should and have are both auxiliary verbs and had is the main verb.
Within the direct object, more is an adjective describing time and the object, time, is an uncountable noun.
Within the infinitive phrase modifying time, to review is the infinitive, these is a demonstrative adjective modifying exercises, and exercises is a plural noun serving as the object of the infinitive.
