Hello everyone.
The sentences below are supposed to be heard at a restaurant. Are both #1 and #2 grammatically correct?
1. You leave about 20 percent tip, right?
2. You leave about a 20 percent tip, right?

I say sentence B is correct - at least to my ear.

I also prefer number 2. (We say leave a tip, after all.)
I could probably also say, "You leave about 20 percent for the tip, right?" |

I agree with your second example. A slight difference, but enough a a difference to "drop" the "a."
