Hello everyone.

Sentence #1 below is a nonliteral, free translation that I made from a single, isolated sentence in Japanese from a writing book in English.

1. Our characters are reflected in our eating habits just as our physical features are reflected in a mirror.

Sentence #2 below is one of the right translations given by the author of the book.
2. A persons eating habit is like a mirror which reflects their character.

It seems to me, however, that Sentence #2 does not make sense. It should have been something like:
3. A persons eating habit is like a mirror because their eating habit reflects their character.

Question:
(1) Is Sentence #2 natural English and does it make sense?
(2) How about Sentence #3?

Best regards,
fw

FW -

Sentence #2 sounds right to me and is natural. However, sentence #3 reads repetitive to me. Technically not wrong, but definately unnatural.

Hope that helps - Kristi
