Are these sentences acceptable, correct, or incorrect? Or should it be "Philosophers study...", etc.
Quote: |
Philosophy does study the mind, just as psychology does, but it also studies other things besides the mind, too, about which psychology has nothing to say.
Philosophy studies, for example, what existence itself is. ... Philosophy studies those aspects that can be studied without experimentation. ...
What does psychology study? |

The premise in your sentences is incorrect. The fields of study of "philosophy" and "psychology" cannot study anything.
A better approach to a correct statement of fact would be, "The study of philosophy <or psychology> involves..." or "deals with ..." . You could also say that, "Students of philosophy <or psychology> study ...".
Distinct parallels can be drawn between the study of psychology and philosophy but there are also stark contrasts and at the same time one must remember that psychology is a science and philosophy (a humanity study) is not. A very simplistic way of looking at it is that psychology is generally objective and philosophy is generally subjective. |
