Darn straight I'll be strict!!! But I will let her date when she is 16 with certain rules:
1. No dating college boys while she is still in high school. As a guy, I know why they want a younger girl, and I will not allow it.
2. He must treat her with respect. No pulling up in his car and honking the horn expecting her to come running out to meet him. He must come up to the door if he is going to call on her for a date. And I want to know where they are going, whom they will be with, and when they will be back.
3. Any boy who wishes to date her must meet me and ask permission. If he is afraid to meet me, then there's probably a good reason why I wouldn't want him dating my daughter.
4. If his d!ck gets anywhere near her, I will kill him is such a horrible way, Saddam Hussein, the Butcher of Baghdad, would flinch in disgust.

But I would allow group dates to the Disneyland in Anaheim which is just 50km from where I live.

Your way proves that you have a strong chinese thinking.
(Maybe one of your ancestors is chinese) Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green (ohmygod, that's so funny)

However, to talk seriously, if I would ever have a daughter, I would additionally go to disneyland with them, and if they would do something wrong before sleeping, the boy will get his stomach cut out.

funny, seems Bob knows many things about Chinese, he almost know how to pronounce a Chinese word, a great father!
in my eyes, you can give your son or daugher any name you want, in China, the parent will give a nice name for their child, the name with some special meaning or great wishes. actually, name just a symbol, it can not decide your child will be a genius or an airhead, nice wishes for childern all over the world.

Some things are universal and transend borders. But as Stellara pointed out, I'm not yet a parent, so who knows how I (or any of us) will really be when the baby comes out?

Amen to that. Kids definitely need a chaperone.
