Hello everyone.
Imagine the speaker( or writer) of the sentences below currently lives in Japan.
( ). Thats why I can speak English.
1. I lived in London for five years
2. I have lived in London for the last five years
3. I have lived in London for five years
4. I have lived in London for five years in total
(1) I understand sentence #1 is natural English and #2 is not. Am I correct?
(2) Is sentence #3 natural English? If it is not, how about #4?
Best regards,
Fw |

Sentence 1 implies that you no longer live in London
Sentence 2 and 3 would mean the same thing. I might use either one.
Sentence 4 - Would not be commonly used |

But you wouldn't use sentence 2 or 3 to mean the same thing as sentence 1, right? I thought that was the question. |
