Hi, teachers! A happy 2006!!

Could you tell me what "to be off on one's hobby" means, like "he is off on his hobby"?

Also I am grateful if you could show me other sentences using this expression.

Thanks!!

Hello,

"He is off on" (something) usually means he is out doing (something).
If someone's hobby is fishing, for instance, "He is off on his hobby" would mean that he is out fishing. "He wants to be off on his hobby" means he wants to be doing whatever it is that is his hobby.

People who are "off on a trip" are away from home and traveling. Someone who is "off on an errand" might be at the market (grocery store) or the post office.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Can I ask you one more question?

"He is off on his hobby"... Is it possible to interpret this sentence like 'he is crazy when it comes to his hobby'?

Thank you in advance, and have a good holiday!
