The seriousness with which such interests are pursud, however,is nothing as compared with the seriousness of the average sports fan, with extensive knowledge of the history and player of the favored team, passonately argued opinions about how to improve the team's performance, cruel triumphalism when the team is successful, and a rather admirable loyalty to the team in the bad times.
I have read this many times, but I cant make out this meaning.
Especially, which is "argued" ,the past pariciple , the past form or participial construction?
then, what words does the `and` between"history"and "player" connect??
I hope a particular answer.so want the reason.
for instance, the reason is "argued"is not the past pariciple , the past form or participial construction.and what's a nominative of "argued"with a rearon.
On the other hand ,please tell me why the `and` between"history"and "player" connects the words. I also want to know sentence structure.
please please,,,,,, |

Hello, Jack
I can't answer all your questions, but I'll tell you what I think. In this case, "passionately argued" seems to be an adjectival phrase describing what kinds of opinions are held. The opinions are very strong, and people are willing to state and even argue about their opinions if others don't agree.
The "and" ("history and player") seems to be saying that fans know a lot about the history of the team AND also know a lot about particular playerS on the team. (I think "playerS" would have been clearer.) |

I can understand what "argued" is. but what object of prepoitions is "argued opinions" ??
the "and" ,(I mean),connects the "knowlebge"with the "player". so the 2 words are coordination. is this right?
I am sorry that how to say is bad . I couldnt express my question well.
but in such a condition,I am glad you kindly tought me.
thank you so much! |

1. "...the average sports fan WITH......(and a list of things, including "passionately argued opinions about how to improve the team's performance")
2. The fans have knowledge of the team history AND knowledge of the player(s). I'm not quite sure what you mean by "coordination" here. |
