I did once! my IQ is 142.
I heard that Bush's IQ is 90, and Bill Clinton's IQ is 180.
then I am stupider than Clinton(of course, Clinton is so smart), however, I am much more intelligent than Bush.
Sounds reasonable |

umm, well, it's not that difficult to be more intelligent than Bush I did another IQ test once (some years ago I think) and I was about 137. Nothing in comparison to you two geniuses but.. not bad, I believe _________________ Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened!

IQ can't prove who is geniuse or who isn't!! IQ just means that some people can answer those weird questions and some people can't.
IMHO, Trickle is just for fun. |

Yeah, IQ is not the propal indicator of intelligence. _________________ If I say "I love you" to someone, then I also have to say "I love inside you everyone else. I love the whole world because of you. I also love myself inside you" |

but why is it called the Intelligence Quotient? no, of course I know that teher's much more about intelligence than these (sometimes stupid) questions about mathematics, logic geometric thinking and so on. I mean, if you just had that, you wouldn't come far in society..

No IQ data are available for George W. Bush. But we do know that the young Bush registered a score of 1206 on the SAT, the most widely used test of college aptitude. (The more cerebral Al Gore obtained 1355.)
Statistically, Bush's test performance places him in the top 16 percent of prospective college students hardly the mark of a dimwit. Of course, the SAT is not designed as an IQ test. But it is highly correlated with general intelligence, to the tune of .80. In plain language, the SAT is two parts a measure of general intelligence and one part a measure of specific scholastic reasoning skills and abilities.
If Bush could score in the top 16 percent of college applicants on the SAT, he would almost certainly rank higher on tests of general intelligence, which are normed with reference to the general population.
So, much as all the democrats, and left leaning journalists would wish it, old George was smart enough to get elected Pres of the USA twice.
I bet Al Gore (IQ reportedly 133) wishes he was that smart. |

Actually, I don't like testing of any sort. Especially in school. I think exams are useful but many of my university exams were worth 70 or 80% of my mark. If you have one bad day, ...
Plus, I don't like the SAT, though I never did it. I don't like any kind of testing like that. |

okay, but being smart doesn't necessarily mean being intelligent, too. smart means rather to know what you are doing, to know how to get what you want. also intelligence, but not only. so if you consider Bush's actions and general appearence he really mut be smart to get elected twice alhtough I'm not sure about the "elected" here.. but that's not the issue.
you're right, Hayde, but do you know another way to compare your skills with other people's? I think testing is important. it's surely not everything in life, but it's cool to see how good you are in comparison to collegues. this feeling "hey, I'm better" just gives you a kick. or it gives me a kick, specifically. I'm not arrogant or something like that, but it's just a good feeling to know almost for sure that you are the best (in this test). don't you think so?

But testing has so many problems. Big ones are different people think different ways. Also, in North America, we have kids from many different cultures. I think most courses (for anything) should be done with course work and major projects throughout the entire time. You can still compare after. I could go on for a long time, but I don't have time |

Maybe that is true for the half of cases but not for all. _________________ If I say "I love you" to someone, then I also have to say "I love inside you everyone else. I love the whole world because of you. I also love myself inside you" |

In UK it used to be that the Large Universities set the GCE exams. If I remember correctly they were London, Oxford, and Cambridge.
If you have an impartial body setting exams, you eliminate the possibility of favouritism inflating anybody's marks, or, alternatively, a lazy teacher inflating marks to give the impression he is doing a good job.
I think standardised testing is probably the best way to achieve fairness.
Although there are many foreign born students in North America, the official language is English or French, and so I think it is reasonable to have to sit exams in those languages because you are going to have to function in them when you leave school.
For example I think Admiral is of Chinese descent. Yet I have seen him argue Physics, which most of us think is a complicated subject, in both German, and English. Admiral will have no trouble getting work after he leaves university.
The idea of school, after all, is to prepare us to be employable after we leave it. |
