What are they called? Words that are pronounced the same but have different meaning and spelling?

e.g.
clothes
close

I can think of any other... can you? pls let me know...

They are homonyms or homophones. Here is a link about homonyms. The first hyperlink has a pretty good list of homonyms (also listed).

Clothes and close wouldn't be homophones. In general, it would be:

clothes=kl-o-th-[schwa]-z

close=kl-o-z

I can think of quite a few more, many of which are confused by native speakers Twisted Evil

your/you're
its/it's
there/their/they're
read/reed
fourth/forth
be/bee
to/too
four/for
seed/cede
need/knead
dessert/desert (verb meaning to abandon, not the noun meaning dry area)

and many more, check the lists.

My goodness, I've never heard "clothes" as two syllables in over 50 years, but you made me check the dictionary, and it is listed as the second possibility. Will wonders never cease.
